<I'm about half through the first Stoner novel, THE LIME
PIT, and so
far, so good. Valin, so far, has avoided most of the PI
cliches (bumps
on the head, hands in the clients' pants--of course, the
client is a 75
year old man, but still...--etc.). Any other opinions of
Valin?>>
Valin is a very solid writer; he has a mature voice not
unlike that of
Stephen Greenleaf, another fine writer of P.I. novels who
hasn't gotten
the attention that he deserves.
