I was in New Orleans about 9 months ago and I found a pretty
nice and pleasantly dusty used book store in the French
Quarter. It was called Bechham's Bookshop and it was at 228
Decatur Street (betwen Iberville and Bienville Sts.). It was
no Strand or Powell's, but it had a fairly sizable collection
on two floors. I can't vouch for its
detective/hardboiled/noir offerings -- I was on more of a
nonfiction jag at the time.
The promotional bookmark I got with my purchase also
advertises another secondhand book store -- Librarie Bookshop
at 823 Chartes Street -- but I never got there myself.
