So I finished Guilty Bystander this morning. In my post
yesterday I said it displayed intelligent writing, and I
haven't changed my opinion. It was very hard-boiled and
packed with action, not much noir-feeling, but maybe slightly
dark plot-wise. However, when I reached the end I felt
something I never encountered before in these kind of books.
When the solution unfolded it was done in a way that made me
feel I was reading a hard-boiled...Agatha Christie ??!! The
way the pieces of the puzzle were put together and told was
like...a puzzle with a twist. It was even told with two
people sitting down in a rocking chair and on a bed, like
Hercule Poirot with a friend. Did someone of you who read it
get the same feeling? I was very surprised by this. Left a
not-so-good flavour on my hard-boiled/noir tastebuds.
