I still can't understand why the producers of this
rediculously successful franchise don't do these stories in
historical perspective. Set during the cold war in the 1950s
and early 60s, as they were written, would add such a sense
of class to a franchise which has become, let's face it, a
parody of itself. Bond had so many specific elements to him
in the books, both personal features and his extensions: the
super-charged Bentley, gun metal cigarette case, steel Rolex,
etc. Fleming brought a sense of character and class to what
are really stories Sax Rhomer might have written. I hope
someday the owners of this franchise get a clue. In the mean
time, this rendition of Bond is certainly the best since
Connery's interpretation.
