After having slept on it, I think I've finally been able to
draw a pretty clear line for myself: I'm looking for books
that if it were written in the first person the female
character would be the one saying "I did this" or "I did
that". The darker the better; no cozies! Branded Woman is the
best example I can think of right now.
I keep wondering about the reviewer of Branded Woman who
piqued my curiosity to begin with by mentioning the noir
"sub-division" of women's revenge stories; does this category
really exist or was she exaggerating?. But I remind myself
that the hunt for these books is part of the pleasure!
