He's done it again, after doing that in HOPE TO DIE, the
previous Scudder? After so many books in the first person, I
wonder what's made him change. Scudder is the core of them
all, and his voice and the way tells the stories is what
makes them. You really feel you get to know him over the
years.
He looked in the mirror. Yes, he
thought. Yes. Soon, soon
he would have a section of this
e-mail all to himself. It
couldn't be in italics, but it would
be indented. And everyone
would know it was different, and that
HE was different. And
he would show them all. Slowly, he
drew an X over his face in
the foggy mirror.
I was very disappointed in the last Scudder book, and I doubt
I'll bother with this one now that I know he's structured it
the same way.
